NOCO Genius G3500 Review

The G3500 is small and compact, and is very effective at charging your batteries. Keep in mind that the larger models can help jumpstart your battery, but the smaller models cannot. Instead, this is mainly for recharging the batteries safely and easily.

For recharging, simply pop the hood of your car, and lay this item on the side of the vehicle while charging. The process is simple: all you have to do is place the cables on your vehicle, and let it charge.

It’s very safe, and can remain connected for 24 hours without any issues. Most other chargers will overcharge your battery, causing damage in the process, but this model:

    • Offers spark-proof technology

    • Provides protection for overcharging

    • Provides protection for reverse polarity

The G3500 can be mounted to a wall or workstation so that you can charge your batteries away from your vehicle. Keep in mind that this can be used to charge batteries of all types, but I utilized it to charge my Honda’s battery.

All you need to do is clamp it onto the terminals and check the current charge rating.

You’ll notice that there are several different modes to choose from:

    • Norm cold

    • Norm

    • Cold

    • 6V norm

    • 12V lithium

    • 12V repair

Choose the right setting with a push the button. You'll notice that right above the mode selection is another set of four LED lights for: 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. The 100% indicates that the battery is fully charged and will illuminate green.

Before your first use, check your battery's, charge and then allow it to sit until the 100% light illuminates in a green color.

All you have to do is start the battery charger, and leave the rest to the NOCO Genius 3500 – it’s that simple.

This charger will:

    • Change voltages when there is a load placed on the battery.

    • Optimize a battery's internal chemistry to increase performance.

    • Diagnose damaged batteries and repair them using the repair setting.

    • Adjust internal temperature sensors to adapt to the current climate.

    • Send out a high-voltage pulse to recover when sulfation or lost capacity is detected.

    • Help the battery maintain its charge without ever overcharging.

I can’t honestly state how well the repair setting works as I did not have a bad battery. Battery damage occurs when the battery is extremely depleted or has been damaged in some other way. Keep in mind that this battery charger cannot work miracles, and some batteries will not be able to be repaired appropriately.

But from other people’s reviews, they do state that this works very well for batteries that are no longer holding charges appropriately.

Pros

    • Extremely well-built with an innovative design

    • Extremely lightweight and portable

    • Can provide diagnostics on the health of your battery

    • Can repair dead or “sick” batteries

Cons

    • Recovery mode doesn’t always work appropriately

I had to look long and hard for any cons for this model, and after looking at other consumers' NOCO Genius G3500 reviews, I found that the recovery mode for batteries doesn’t always work appropriately. This can be for a variety of reasons, and I’m assuming that these batteries have been severely damaged. Again, this battery charger cannot perform miracles, so if you’re using it just for the hopes that it will bring back an expensive damaged battery, don’t buy it.

While some users have had success with repairing damaged batteries, it is not 100% certain that the battery will be able to be repaired.

But if you’re like most people that simply want a very effective battery charger or a battery maintainer, this is the perfect choice for you. You can use this to maintain your Corvette’s battery that keeps dying while the car is stored in the garage, or use it to recharge a variety of different battery types.

This model charges quickly and effectively while also utilizing the utmost in safety measures during the charging process.
